The course offers an advanced examination of the principles, strategies and innovations critical to fostering a sustainable and climate-ready urban environments. Grounded upon planning theories and concepts of social equity and inclusive society, the course analyses the socio-economic, environmental, and infrastructural dimensions of sustainable city development. Both classic and emerging challenges such as greening the built environment, bridging urban-rural divide, climate change adaptation, regenerative production and community-based economy will be explored. The course adopts Problem-based Learning (PBL) approach where students will take lead and debate on selected current urban affairs. The course aims to equip students with the analytical tools and strategic insights necessary to design and implement sustainable urban strategies that enhance the overall resilience and quality of life of the city and its inhabitants.
