Collaborative governance for low carbon transition

[6 CREDITS]

Introduction

The course adopts the governance framework, examining the issues along the journey towards a low carbon and sustainable community. In particular, the concepts of collaborative governance and self-governance will be explored in detail. The application of these governance approaches in different contexts to address sustainability issues will be investigated through a range of case studies.

The course will also critically review the roles played by organisations in the civil society and private sector in the low carbon transition as well as the ways in which their initiatives contribute towards building a sustainable community. With the aim of training drivers for for-profit or non-profit sustainability initiatives, the course will draw upon tools such as community engagement, business model canvas and provide opportunities to enhance students’ skills in proposal writing and impact assessment.
