Traditionally an industry of consumption, there were, and still are, many sustainability issues in hospitality; from waste management to social issues, there was very little understanding of how sustainability would look in the hospitality industry. This is why I applied for the programme – I wanted to make a difference in an industry that I love. The programme equipped me with crucial multi-disciplinary fundamentals that gave me a great base to pursue a career in sustainability. The practical knowledge I gained from the programme is so adaptable, it didn’t matter which industry I ultimately decided to enter.  The lecturers and my classmates provided a fantastic environment that allowed for collaborative discussions and cross-sectoral learning. Apart from the modules and topics that were delivered throughout the programme, it was these soft-skills that were developed through insightful and constructive conversations (and sometimes arguments) that are my biggest takeaways. Having a classroom of people from different industries, all working towards the common goal of making a positive impact created a truly dynamic and robust learning experience.
