Campsite Introduction

The Forest Village Campsite is nestled within the scenic valley of Mui Tsz Lam, and is Hong Kong’s first campsite that integrates ecological conservation, rural revitalization, and immersive forest experiences. Through thoughtfully designed camping facilities and activity programmes, we hope participants can travel light while deeply exploring the many layers of the Forest Village landscape.

Here, you will experience:

  • Terraced Campsites Surrounded by Forest
The campsite is located on restored terraced fields along a small hillside ridge, with an agroforestry cultivation area situated on the opposite side of the terraces. The surrounding landscape is embraced by dense Feng Shui Woods and secondary forests, while streams flow through the nearby village. Here, visitors can encounter diverse habitats and may even catch glimpses of the wildlife inhabiting the area.

  • An Environmentally Friendly Campsite Built by Hand
The campsite was developed through a participatory design process inspired by the concept of “Øscape.” Existing terraced structures and trees were carefully preserved, while new eco-craft trails were constructed using locally sourced materials in accordance with environmentally sensitive principles. The camping platforms and trails you use today were built through countless hours of volunteer effort and craftsmanship.

  • A Three-Hundred-Year-Old Hakka Village Settlement
Mui Tsz Lam was founded more than three centuries ago and is regarded as one of the ancestral settlements of the Tsang Hakka clan in the region. Although villagers have largely moved away, many traditional structures, historical artefacts, and the feng shui spatial layout typical of South China Hakka villages can still be found within the village today.

Here, we offer:

  • Camping Equipment Rental
Camping gear rental services are available, allowing visitors to travel light and comfortably enjoy the natural environment.

  • Campsite Facilities
The campsite includes wooden camping platforms, while the village provides toilets, hot showers, a shared refrigerator, sinks, lockers, hair dryers, barbecue stoves, and recycling facilities. Free hot and cold drinking water is available, together with natural shampoo, natural body wash, and natural dishwashing liquid. Bottled and canned drinks are also available for purchase.
