Forest Village Festival

One of the project’s signature annual events not to be missed is the “Forest Living Festival.”

The festival has been held for consecutive years and includes a series of programmes such as the “Forest Winter Camp,” “Forest Carnival,” and “New Year Forest Sunrise Tour,” allowing participants to deeply explore the Forest Village experience.

Forest Winter Camp

This two-day-one-night programme includes a Forest Village guided tour, tree climbing, and zipline experiences in Mui Tsz Lam, allowing participants to enjoy outdoor adventures while exploring the beauty of the village.

In the evening, participants enjoy a traditional Hakka Winter Solstice dinner carefully prepared by villagers in Lai Chi Wo, with an on-site glutinous rice ball cooking session that immerses visitors in the festive winter atmosphere of the rural village. After returning to the campsite, a campfire gathering allows everyone to warm themselves together through the night. On the following morning, after a light breakfast, participants may also experience seasonal farm harvesting activities.

Forest Carnival

Over two consecutive days, the carnival presents a rich variety of activities suitable for both active and leisurely participation. Multiple booths and games are set up on-site, allowing families and visitors to learn more about local rural ecology and cultural traditions while enjoying an immersive carnival experience filled with discovery and fun.

New Year Forest Sunrise Tour

Participants gather in Tai Po late on New Year’s Eve before travelling in groups by taxi to Wu Kau Tang, where the journey officially begins. The route passes through Fen Shui Au towards the Mui Tsz Lam Story House. After a short rest and refreshments, professional hiking guides lead participants along hidden mountain trails behind Mui Tsz Lam and Kop Tong to ascend Tiu Tang Lung, the highest peak in the Double Haven region, to welcome the first sunrise of a new year!
