Training Content : Ancient stone trails were once built by
villagers to facilitate travel between villages. Historical inscriptions
at Fen Shui Au indicate that the trail connecting Mui Tsz Lam, Chu Mun
Tin, and Tung Wo Market was once an important historical route.
However,
beginning in the 1960s, villagers gradually moved away in search of
livelihoods elsewhere, leaving the trails without maintenance. Soil
erosion, landslides, flooding, vegetation overgrowth, and human damage
gradually caused these stone-paved trails to deteriorate and, in some
cases, disappear entirely.
Through theoretical classes, overnight
workshops, practical training, and volunteer sessions, this programme
introduces participants to the core concepts, values, and functions of
eco-craft trails. Participants will learn how to use specialised tools
and gain hands-on experience with eco-technology techniques such as
stone step construction, timber step construction, and drainage systems.
Whether
you are a hiking enthusiast, rural volunteer, or someone interested in
trail restoration, this training programme offers a valuable practical
learning platform to help build more sustainable rural communities
through direct action.
Training Format: Theoretical classes, two-day-one-night workshops, practical training, and volunteer workshops.
