Background and Introduction
Sustainable development is a matter of the present and the future, it not only requires the collaboration of more professional organizations, but also needs to attract the attention and participation of the general public, so it is especially important to establish an experiential platform that is built by multiple stakeholders and can be participated by the general public.
The Dalong Valley is in the conservation area of the Huangpu River Source Forest Conservation Society (Hereinafter Yanghushe) in Anji County. Having Yanghushe as the owner and operator, Coca-Cola China as the impact investor and resources connector, a space for lodging, catering, and activities was designed and constructed in Dalong Valley. The Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation was introduced to complete the content part of the space, that is by organizing artists residency, internal seminars and round-tables among stakeholders, thematic public events, as well as producing and disseminating content, The Dalong Valley is aimed to become a base for professional organizations in the field of sustainable development to carry out cooperation and practice, as well as a base for the general public to experience nature in depth and to explore the relationship between humans and nature.

Proposed Project Actions and Deliverables
- Space construction: A comprehensive facility encompasses accommodation, a dining room, an exhibition and activities building, offices, and supporting facilities.
- Artists residency: To infuse a distinctive character into the location, the artist residency not only fosters a unique local narrative and identity but also plays a pivotal role in enhancing the area’s branding.
- Thematic public events: These include guided tours, workshops, hiking excursions, and more. These events not only afford visitors a profound connection with the forest and an exploration of the intricate relationship between humans and the environment but also serve as a significant source of income for the local community.
