Project Team
Leader: Xing Wenwei (AIRI Fellow)
Members: Leung Chin Pui Perry, Lok Wai Ying, Cheung KaKin
Background and Introduction
Sheung Tsuen in Pat Heung, Yuen Long, is a traditional village with rich cultural heritage and tranquil surroundings, but not many people know about it. This project aims to utilise the social capital of a 3-generation family restaurant in Sheung Tsuen to promote local rural history, tourism and agriculture. The goal of the project team is to establish an affordable preservation model that safeguards neglected history and restores the rural parts of Hong Kong to their former glory. Ultimately, the project envisions the creation of an NPO that will protect rural-urban communities and advocate for realistic recommendations to government policy, fostering synergy among villagers and government stakeholders.
