Background and Introduction

Based on the reform of rural bamboo forest carbon sinks in Anji County, this project aims to establish a 1,000-Mu bamboo forest carbon sinks operation demonstration area in Jingxi Village, Anji County, to explore and try to solve the problem of lack of professional labor in rural bamboo forest carbon sinks operation by machines instead of people, so as to enhance the efficiency of bamboo forest carbon sinks operation, and to open up the last kilometer of transforming the ecological benefits into economic benefits.

Project Site

Jingxi Village, Anji County, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China

Proposed Project Actions and Deliverables

  • Mechanization to replace labor: Through researching the needs of bamboo logging, the project will purchase, modify or develop machines (such as Bamboo ropeway transportation, bamboo rail transportation, logging chainsaw, bamboo mower, bamboo micro-tiller, etc.) that are suitable for the terrain and work of bamboo forests to improve the speed and quality of bamboo logging and bamboo forest carbon sink cultivation. The project will deliver a needs analysis report, a proposal, a contract, a batch of logging machines, a test acceptance report, a training and assessment report, and a use and maintenance manual.
  • Terrain modification suitable for machine work: Through researching the characteristics of bamboo forest terrain, necessary terrain modification (such as construction of forest roads, micro-modification of machine work areas, etc.) will be carried out to reduce the difficulty and risk of bamboo forest logging. The project will deliver a terrain analysis report, a plan, a contract, a batch of modification results, an inspection and acceptance report, an effect evaluation report and a management and protection program.
  • Vocational Farmers Training: Through researching the situation of bamboo forest workers, the project will provide targeted training to improve the skills and knowledge of bamboo forest workers. The project will deliver a situation needs analysis report, a proposal, a contract, a batch of training materials, an assessment and evaluation report, an effectiveness evaluation report and a follow-up support program.
