To be a university of character, National Chengchi University set up this outreach office in 2013. Under the guidance of the vice president, it is designated to build up universitywide institutional supports for engaged scholarship, incubate social practice projects by coordinating internal efforts on community development, and solicit external and international resources for long-term engagement. Being the first one of this kind in Taiwan, the Outreach Office demonstrates how to assume the role of public intellectuals by the faculty and alumni, integrate local and scientific knowledge for innovative problem solving by project practitioners, and advance toward entrepreneurial careers with social betterment by students.
