Regional Roundtable on Rural Sustainability – critical issues in Asia
“Rural Sustainability Programme – APAC Initiative for Regional Impact” (AIRI) held its first regional roundtable on June 25, 2022 under the topic “Rural Sustainability – Critical Issues in Asia”. Academics and practitioners from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, and Thailand delivered thematic presentations on collaborative governance, rural-based economy, sustainable agriculture, and decentralisation of decision-making in rural resources, sharing local case studies of models and experiences on rural revitalisation and sustainability. The discussion session examined how to scale up innovative rural revitalisation projects to drive a bigger impact. The roundtable recording is now uploaded to https://ccsg.hku.hk/airi/regional-roundtable This event marks the official start of the “Rural Sustainability Programme – APAC Initiative for Regional Impact” (AIRI). Sustainable Campsite Design Hackathon
Centre for Civil Society and Governance is organizing a “Sustainable Campsite Design Hackathon” together with the Division of Landscape Architecture, HKU between May and June 2022. The Hackathon provides an opportunity for idea jamming, exchange of perspectives, and collaborations among individuals and parties from different sectors and backgrounds with the aim to design a sustainable campsite and wilderness experience using the concept of “Øscape” as a framework. The first stage of the Hackathon has been completed and the prototypes of the campsite design have been created through the concerted effort of the participants. Social Innovation Incubation Programme for Inclusive Employment 2022
The Jockey Club Collaborative Project for Inclusive Employment is launching the “Social Innovation Incubation Programme for Inclusive Employment” between June and November this year. We would like to invite different community actors and organizations who are passionate about facilitating inclusive employment for people with disabilities to participate in our Programme. Through the Programme participants can enhance their understanding for employment and service channels currently available to people with intellectual disabilities, as well as interact with relevant stakeholders, to expand their resources and network on the topic and therefore generate innovative and influential proposals contributing to inclusive employment. Programme details are as follow: Theme: Facilitation of Employment for People with Intellectual Disabilities Target Participants: Business executives, NGO managers, community actors, students, and members of the public who are interested in the cause of social inclusion Content: Inclusive Employment Experiential Series(June – July)  To understand the career needs of people with intellectual disabilities, and to understand currently available services and potential opportunities provided by schools, welfare departments, self-help groups and corporates.   Design Thinking Workshop (August) Ideation of services / projects promoting employment for people with intellectual disabilities through design thinking.   Idea Development (September) Participants will submit their innovative proposals for screening, in which the organizer will choose the ones with the most development potentials for the next stage   Pitching Activities (October – November) The organizer will invite a team of consultants to provide consultation and resource-matching opportunities for the shortlisted proposals   Deadline: June 10, 2022 (Friday), 12:00NN   Click here to join the Programme.

You are cordially invited to the second Knowledge Primer (KP2) titled “Innovation for Sustainability: Improving Corporate Innovation Capacity” under the Partnership for Sustainability Leadership in Business (PSLB), initiated by the Centre for Civil Society and Governance (CCSG) of The University of Hong Kong. The surge in attention to corporates’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and demand for corporate actions on environmental and social challenges calls for a shifting mindset from conceiving businesses as merely product and service providers in economic terms, to ones that create environmental and social values. When the conventional ways of doing business are deemed unsustainable to the society, building a company’s innovative capacity is key to transit towards sustainability. PSLB’s second Knowledge Primer (KP2) will shed light on the approaches to building corporate innovation capacity for attaining sustainability goals.
