Workshops on “Practicing Resource Circularity in the Foodservice Industry”

The Partnership for Sustainability Leadership in Business project team from the Centre for Civil Society and Governance, The University of Hong Kong, organised two workshops titled “Practicing Resource Circularity in the Foodservice Industry” on November 28 and 30, 2023. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Invest HK, The Government of the HKSAR, for sponsoring the venue. We would also like to acknowledge the invaluable support and collaboration of our co-organizers: Institute of Dining Professionals, Chamber of Food & Beverage Industry of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants & Related Trades.

Building upon the success of “A Practical Guidebook to a Circular Economy: Collaborating with Value Chain Partners for a Resilient Business” published in October, over 30 participants from the foodservice and associated industries have learnt about the basics of ESG, sustainable value chain management, and circular economy. The workshops provided a unique opportunity for interactive learning, with participants engaging in practical exercises in small groups.

We were honored to have two guest speakers at the workshops who shared their insights and innovative solutions for addressing local waste issues. Mr. Lau Wai Yan, the Founder and Executive Director of Cornerstone Renewable Energy Limited, and Dr. Ho Ka Kin, Head of the Research and Development Department at AEL (International Holdings) Limited, shared cutting-edge research and developments in waste treatment technologies.

We sincerely thank all the participants for their active participation, and we hope that this workshop would deepen their understanding of waste issues and resource circularity, thereby inspiring them to address related challenges in their business operations.
