A total area of 50,000 sq. meter of abandoned farmland has been revitalised since 2014 under the project. In order to create a new agricultural community in Lai Chi Wo, “3 Dous” Community Building Scheme (「三斗種」社區培育計劃) has been launched since 2015 to initiate farm start-ups and production projects at Lai Chi Wo. Different groups of individuals come to Lai Chi Wo as community farmers. A new farming community has been incubated.











The souls of “Very Ginger” are three picky pickers, sustainable living practitioners and local produce supporters. With their persistence and craftsmanship, they sourced sustainably farmed fresh local ginger and turmeric from Lai Chi Wo to produce natural ginger and turmeric products with no additives nor preservatives.
A team of four that plants coffee on the once abandoned terraced fields in Lai Chi Wo in the way of agroforestry. Apart from coffee, the team also grows other produce like ginger and turmeric.
The group aspires to connect with Nature through five senses and promote and practice the concept “From Farm to Table”. Their farm illustrates urban farming practice and landscaping demonstration.
The farm’s vision is to promote sustainable green lifestyle by providing urban people a space to rejuvenate body, mind and spirit; and reflect on the possibility of conscious healthy living.
Set up by a team of two, David and Fiona. David is an indigenous villager, who is devoted in the revitalisation of Lai Chi Wo and Fiona is an all-rounded, talented lady who enjoyed farming.
Uncle Yi is an indigenous villager, who came back to his homeland for retired life. His wife helps to grow fresh vegetables for themselves.
The team supports the community farmers, under the Management Agreement in Lai Chi Wo together with The Conservancy Association.
The project farm is operated by a team of 3 young farmers and 1 experienced farmer for agroforestry research, produce and product development and training.
