Session 5: Cases of Sustainable Agriculture in Hong Kong
This session shows the cases of Long Valley and Lai Chi Wo as local examples of sustainable agriculture in Hong Kong and reveals the challenges and difficulties involved. Apart from Long Valley and Lai Chi Wo, many organic farms in Hong Kong are also practising sustainable agriculture. They are mostly small-scale family-based farms selling only locally and are required to establish on-farm wildlife refuge habitats in order to be certified organic (Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre Certification Limited, 2017). These examples showcase the collective efforts made by stakeholders in different scales and backgrounds to purse for agricultural sustainability.
