The Case of Long Valley

Long Valley, the largest piece of freshwater wetland in Hong Kong, is an important wintering grounds for migratory birds and also one of the largest open farming areas in Hong Kong. The planting of watercress and water spinach, etc. using the traditional wet farmland practice helped create and maintain the current wetland habitats. Since 2005, The Conservancy Association and the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society have been jointly carrying out a habitat management, conservation and environmental education project in Long Valley with government grants. Watch the video below and see how eco-agriculture plays a major role in this project.
