The Academy offers an array of learning activities, including seminars, workshops and clusters of curriculum-based courses at various levels with a focus on sustainable development of communities in both rural and urban areas. The Academy adopts a holistic learning strategy and provides students with ample experiential activities to learn and master the knowledge of community-based sustainability issues. Learning activities include:

- Learning-by-doing capstone projects
- Local and overseas field visits and other field activities
