Biography

Dr Winnie Law is the Executive Director and Principal Lecturer at the Centre for Civil Society and Governance, The University of Hong Kong. Dr Law specialises in rural revitalisation, social innovation, community planning, and corporate sustainability. Her research integrates sustainability theories into practice through civic engagement, impact assessments and education for sustainability. Dr Law spearheaded landmark action research initiatives, including the rural revitalisation initiatives at Lai Chi Wo, setting local and regional benchmarks for socio-ecological conservation and establishing business cases for long-term sustainability.

Dr Law served on top government bodies in Hong Kong, including the Advisory Council for the Environment and she has been active in the non-profit sector, leading long-term green advocacy as Vice Chair of The Conservancy Association and as Board of Trustee for International College Hong Kong.

Beyond Hong Kong, Dr Law was commissioned as a planning and social monitoring expert by the European Union and the UNDP for international urban development projects and is an official representative at the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Higher Education Network for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage.
